Liberal democracy is under pressure, with trust in politics and politicians eroding. The project "Beruf:Politik" aims to counteract this trend. Fewer people are running for political office, and those who do often lack expertise, experience and commitment. Many citizens feel unrepresented, as parliaments don't adequately reflect society's diversity. While politicians should not only represent their social group, it's important to incorporate different perspectives into political decision-making. "Beruf:Politik" encourages a critical examination of judgments about politicians and urges more diverse individuals to engage at all levels, from local to federal politics. Democracy is only as strong as the citizens who support it.
